Brooks-Range Mountaineering Fall 2016 Jackets Include Polartec, DownTek

Brooks-Range Mountaineering Fall 2016 jackets

Now that it’s February, it’s only logical to start thinking about warm jackets coming out next fall, right? OK, maybe not. But there’s a point in the year when the super-heavy coats that you’re wearing this winter just aren’t appropriate. And for those shoulder seasons, the Brooks-Range Mountaineering Fall 2016 jackets might be worth checking out.

The Brooks-Range Fall 2016 jacket lineup is four coats deep and offers varying degrees of warmth. That heat comes in part due to design and in part due to the materials used. Two of the jackets will feature Polartec Alpha, while two will use DownTek to keep men and women warm next autumn.

On the Polartec Alpha front, the Alpha Hoody ($269.95) offers both breathability and 100g of Polartec Alpha insulation, keeping it lightweight but warm. The 10d Nylon DWR shell will be topped with a helmet-compatible hood, while the hand-warming pockets will keep your digits toasty.

The $259.95 Alpha Softshell, meanwhile, will have both Polartec Alpha and Polartec Power Shield for insulation and protection from the elements. Its Nylon DWR shell is a tad thicker (15d), and it will also have hand-warming pockets and a helmet-compatible hood.

Elevating the heat factor, the other two Brooks-Range Mountaineering Fall 2016 jackets will use DownTek. The first of these jackets, called the Mojave Extreme Parka ($399.95), is billed as Brooks-Range’s “warmest offering, for big mountain adventure.” The jacket has a water-repellent shell and is fully baffled, with 800 Fill DownTek and 15d Nylon Shell DWR to keep you warm and protected. There are multiple internal storage pockets, a hidden drawcord and a stuff sack.

A stuff sack will also come with the Brooks-Range’s final jacket addition for fall 2016, the men’s and women’s Down Hoody. Priced at $269.95, the Down Hoody is similar in a financial sense to the Alpha Hoody, but it will use 800 Fill DownTek and have 15d Nylon Shell DWR in addition to Polartec Power Shield in the forearms. It will have multiple internal storage pockets and a helmet-compatible hood.
